Meet Izzy, the world’s first zero-waste beauty line. Izzy is taking big steps to reduce plastic waste with clean and cruelty-free beauty products that are 100% reusable, 100% recyclable, 100% certified CarbonNeutral®, and 100% gorgeous. Izzy beauty products come with no outer packaging and are shipped in reusable mailers manufactured from upcycled materials. Products contain 94% less plastic than the leading brands. What little plastic is used is reground and recycled at their facility. They also donate a portion of the proceeds to three foundations that share similar passions: the National Forest Foundation, Her Justice, and Pencils of Promise.

Breaking the Mold

Izzy Zero Waste Beauty launched in 2021 with the intention of breaking the mold within the beauty and eCommerce industry. Every decision made from the ingredients used to the production to manufacturing and fulfillment had one thing in mind, the brand's north star: ZERO-WASTE. It wasn’t just about adding a logo or an icon to their website but thinking through the entire business model. Every standard for how a DTC eCommerce business needed to operate had to be put into question and they needed to lean on experts in the industry to ensure the right choices were being made upfront. This included their approach to offering subscription memberships and easy returns for 100% of their orders.

The Mission

Izzy and One Rockwell were pioneers in conceiving and creating business functions for zero-waste shipping, fulfillment, and replenishing. In order to achieve success, both teams leaned on each other’s specific expertise in our individual fields to accomplish a zero-waste digital DTC business model. Selecting the right platform and third-party partners was vital to the mission.

The Challenge

The brand needed to educate customers on how to participate in this zero-waste movement in an easy and seamless way, while expressing the value of the products amongst others in the industry. Ongoing touchpoints were created through email marketing and SMS to incentivize customers to reuse and recycle, including how they would participate in the unique, sustainable return and replenishment process.

The Results

Izzy Zero Waste Beauty has been recognized for their disruption in the industry. In 2021, they were named as a finalist for the Greater Good Award and have been featured in major publications such as WWD and Good Housekeeping. In partnership with One Rockwell, the digital business continues to grow. The website recently went through a redesign and navigation update to allow for multiple categories and product types as the brand expand its assortment throughout 2022.
